Basketball Coaches
Kenny Edwards was an
award-winning athlete who believes in teamwork first and foremost. He
believes in building and maintaining a respectable and competitive basketball
program through discipline, hard work, and team unity. Every member of the
team is valuable and only by working together can any team achieve success. Kenny demands and motivates in
equal measure to ensure every member of the team, including himself, gives
intensity, hustle, and hard work. Though the style of basketball he
teaches is fast paced, it is based on sound fundamentals, including an
understanding of the game and an explanation of what it takes to win.
Player development through detailed instruction is also another key item in
building a successful team. Kenny has over 20 years of
coaching experience, Current Heads men’s Basketball Coach, a very successful
run as a Head Coach at the collegiate level on both men and women side. He has also served as Assistant Lay Coach, AAU
Coach, a college recruiter, and a Director of Player Development. He is
operator of West Georgia Showcase where West Georgia College prospects have the
opportunity to showcase their talents to Colleges. His love of basketball brought
him to Snead State Community College where he played graduating with an Associate’s
Degree. From there, he went on to finish both his basketball and
educational careers at
Sport Management and a minor in Coaching. During his senior year at UWG, he served
as a volunteer coach with the Central High School men’s basketball teams for the 2021-
2022 season. Coach Clifton is a GICAA Basketball State Champion and All-State player
from his high school years at Lafayette Christian School. He is teaching Credit Recovery
and serving as an assistant coach for the men’s basketball teams during his first year at
Central. He recently married his beautiful wife, Alexis, in August. When he is not
teaching or coaching, he enjoys spending time with family and friends and watching
UGA football. Coach Clifton and Alexis are very excited to be a part of the Central
family. Go Lions!
